Nigerian youths have challenged to tap into the enormous opportunities in apiculture (beekeeping) space to better their lots as the demand for pure honey continues to rise.

President of the Grassroot Beekeepers Association of Nigeria, Chief Gideon Dagunduro stated this during an interaction with journalists in Lagos.

Dagunro said beekeeping as agric value chain has evolved and it is a lucrative business that anyone can start with a capital of 50,000 naira or less, stressing that young entrepreneurs can activate a small-scale beekeeping business for honey production.

According to him, “Beekeeping offers a promising opportunity to venture into entrepreneurship with limited capital.: With the right training and equipment, Nigerian youths can tap into the growing demand for pure honey and build a successful business and by harnessing the potential of the honey industry, young Nigerians can create a sustainable source of income and contribute to the country’s economic growth.”

Dagunduro added that “the key to success lies in starting small, focusing on quality, and developing a marketing strategy to sell products locally or online.”

He mentioned that the future of beekeeping in Nigeria is robust, and young Nigerians should to take advantage of this opportunity and build a successful career in beekeeping and honey production.
