Cork Beekeepers are passing on their ancient craft in a new online class
Buzzing to try something new in 2025?
Forget dry January – why not kick off 2025 by learning how to manage your own bee colony?
That’s right, the Co. Cork Beekeepers Association is offering a beginner’s beekeeping course starting Wednesday, January 8th, and it’s all online – so you can learn how to work with bees while staying in your pyjamas. Ah, the joy of modern technology.
The course runs for eight nights, from 7:30pm to 9pm, and will cover all the basics you need to know before you dive into the world of buzzing little creatures.
Participants will receive a copy of Ted Hooper’s Guide to Bees & Honey and Brood Diseases in Ireland as part of the €170 fee, which sounds like a solid deal if you’re keen to become the proud owner of your very own backyard beehive.
What can you expect? Well, the course covers all the essentials, from the workings of a bee colony, to learning the secret art of harvesting honey. You’ll also get to grips with beekeeping equipment, bee health (spoiler: it’s important), and how to avoid turning your garden into a battleground of angry bees.
So, if you’ve ever fancied a more “natural” hobby, now’s your chance to become a certified bee keeper.
Sign up now over here, because, much like the bees themselves, spaces are limited.
