Weather: Unusual heat after polar cold, shocking end of November!
The month of November will end with extreme weather conditions for the entire Europe and Italy, marked by a sharp alternation between intense cold and abnormal heat.
This dynamic will be caused by the meeting of air masses of completely different origins, leading to a sequence of climatic conditions as much wintery as spring-like or even summer-like.
Polar cold towards central and northern Europe
With the start of the third decade of November, a wave of polar cold will affect much of central-northern Europe, where strong winds, significant temperature drops, and snowfalls reaching even the plains will be the main features.
In Italy, the cold will initially reach the North, between November 21 and 22, with the possibility of snowfalls at low altitudes, particularly on the Alps and Prealps. Meanwhile, Central Italy and Southern Italy will be exposed to libeccio winds bringing rains and localized thunderstorms, with a turbulent and at times unpredictable weather scenario.
Conditions will change rapidly, with intense localized meteorological phenomena.
The return of the African anticyclone
Subsequently, between November 24 and 30, the North African anticyclone will gain ground over large portions of Western Europe.
This subtropical high-pressure ridge will bring stable weather conditions to many areas and, above all, a significant increase in temperatures, up to values well above the seasonal average.
The phenomenon will be particularly felt in the central-western Mediterranean, where the days will take on a more spring-like than wintery character.
Significant temperature fluctuations in Italy
In Italy, marked thermal fluctuations are expected in the coming days.
The cold phase, between November 20 and 22, will be characterized by temperatures dropping 8-10°C below normal, bringing a typically wintery climate, especially in the North and the inland areas of the Center.
Subsequently, with the advance of the African anticyclone, temperatures will rise rapidly, exceeding seasonal averages and reaching decidedly abnormal values.
Temperatures above 23°C towards the end of the month
The latest updates from meteorological models indicate that, in the last days of November, the thermometer could mark values of 23-24°C on the Main Islands and in various areas of Southern Italy.
In Western Europe, particularly on the Iberian Peninsula, temperatures are expected to reach 25°C, a particularly unusual figure for the period.
